Boost Mobile, taking a page from its parent company, Sprint, is offering a limited-time deal for prospective customers. Called the Slash Your Payment in Half promotion, it’s the prepaid equivalent to Sprint’s tier-one deal.

Starting today and running through July 20, Boost pledges to cut the monthly rate plan in half for MetroPCS and Cricket Wireless defectors. According to the prepaid service provider, customers can save $20 to $30 per month.
Under the promotion, a MetroPCS customer who receives 2GB of data on a $40 rate plan will get 2.5GB data for $20 per month. Cricket subscribers on the 10GB plan pay $60 per month whereas Boost will charge $30 per month for the same.
Limited time or not, this is an eye-catching promotion to be sure. Not only are the half-price rates attractive, but they’re not tied to a long-term contract. Boost Mobile is a prepaid-only service provider.
However, a deal this good has to come with a string or two, right? Indeed, this one certainly does. For starters, customers have to port their number over before July 20 to qualify.
Also worth noting, the promotional rate expires after one year. Once 12 bill cycles have passed Boost will switch the customer over to a standard rate plan with a comparable amount of data.
