When iOS 9 launched, Apple added the ability for developers to create content-blocking apps.
These apps, which work in mobile Safari, block various types of content. Most predominantly, content blockers are used to block Web ads, pictures and videos.
The result is a much quicker mobile browsing experience.
Trump Trump is one such new content blocking app. But instead of blocking ads, Trump Trump builds a wall between you and any mention or photo of Donald Trump while using Safari. The blocker, which was posted on Product Hunt, is the spawn of requests after the developer released a similar app aimed at the Kardashians.
After installing the app from the App Store, you’ll need to enable it. To do that, open Settings on your iOS device, then go to Safari > Content Blockers > slide the switch next to Trump Trump to the On position. You can then go about browsing the Web, Trump free.
As you can see in the second screenshot above, the content simply disappears. It’s not perfect, as I’ve seen a few “Trump” mentions slip by, but it gets the job done.
How much will it cost you to make Trump disappear from your iOS device? A cool $0.99, £0.79, AU$1.49.
The app’s description makes it clear, and it’s worth nothing, content blockers such as this don’t work in apps like Facebook or Twitter. Content blockers are limited to Safari, and any Safari views app developers use in their apps.
