91-Year-Old Man Murders His 87-YO Wife After A Fight, Then Burns The Body In Kerala

A 91-year-old man has been arrested on charges of murdering his 87-yeard-old wife at Vellikkulangara in Thrissur district .

The SI of Vellikkulangara police station K L Sudheesh gave the name of the victim as Mukkattuveetil Kochuthresia. The SI said the husband Cheriyakutty was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody by the Judicial First Class Magistrate of Irinjalakuda.

The police said as per the testimonies of the husband, family feuds seem to have led to the murder. The accused had also burned the body of his wife after the murder.

The couple had seven children but they were staying alone, at Vellikulangara. As per the information gathered by the police from the relatives and neighbours the husband and wife used to have regular quarrels.

The younger son, Joby had given a complaint to the police on August 28, saying that the mother was missing since August 27.

Cheriyakutty also told the police that his wife was missing, after she had gone out in an auto on August 27. However, the police became suspicious later after they located the walking stick being used by her with blood stain from her room.

On detailed questioning Cheriyakutty confessed that he had murdered his wife. According to his statements , he had first pushed her during a quarrel at home on August 27 evening, and she fell down in the room. She was seen bleeding profusely on the head, as her head had hit on the cupboard in the room. He had again hit her with the walking stick, in that fit of rage, and he realised that she was dead after some time.

He then threw the body outside the house through the window, and consigned it to the flames in the homestead farm. The police have recovered the gold he had kept concealed in the compound of his son’s house.
