16-YO Girl Held Captive, Gang Raped For Days By Six Accused Including Three Minors

In a shocking case, the police in Andhra Pradesh’s Ongole has arrested six people, including three juveniles for allegedly gang-raping and confining a minor girl for days. 

The crime came to light on Saturday after the 16-year-old girl managed to escape her captures and was spotted by a cop in a bus station.

According to the girl who hails from Guntur district, she had come to Ongole on June 16, looking for a youth who she had met in a hospital and had developed a friendship.

While she was waiting for her friend at the bus station, one of the accused Baji a differently abled mobile shop owner offered to help her and took her inside his shop where the girl was sexually assaulted for the first time. Later he was joined by five of his friends, including three minor students who gang-raped the girl multiple times.

On Saturday, she managed to flee the room where she was confined and narrated her ordeal to a policeman who was on duty at a bus station. 

Based on the girl’s complaint the police have arrested all the six accused, out of which four are polytechnic students. They have been booked under the POCSO Act and various sections of the Indian Penal Code.

Following media reports of the gang-rape Ongole witnessed protests by various youth and women’s organizations demanding maximum punishment for the culprits.

State woman commission member T Rama Devi has assured that maximum punishment will be given to the accused. 

Newly appointed Andhra Pradesh Home Minister M Sucharita has promised stern action as the incident raised concerns over the safety of women in the state.
