2 Ugandan Men Nabbed At Delhi Airport With Heroin Worth Rs 68 Crore

In a big bust, custom officials nabbed two Ugandan nationals at Delhi airport for allegedly trying to smuggle heroin worth Rs 68 crore into India, an official statement said as per a report in PTI.  

It’s one of the biggest detection of heroin or any narcotics at any international airport in the nation, said the statement which was given by the customs department. 

On suspicion, two Ugandans arriving from Entebbe via Doha were intercepted by the air customs officers at the IGI airport, the statement went on to say.

While searching the checked-in bags, 51 pouches containing approximately 9.8 kilos of a white powdery substance, believed to be narcotics was recovered, the statement also said. 

“When this material was subjected to a diagnostic test, prima facie it appears to contain a commercial quantity of heroin, valued at Rs 68 crore,” it added. 

The accused are both in their mid-thirties. They got a bag containing heroin in its false cavity by their sister in Uganda, according to a customs official

The narcotics were hidden between the false cavity of the bag which contained books as well to avoid suspicion.
